Michael Smith Switchgear has featured in The King’s Award for Enterprise Magazine 2025.

It comes after MSSL was recognised in the Sustainable Development category of this year’s awards.

A full page profile in the magazine sets out MSSL’s pioneering work in driving sustainable innovation - from cutting carbon emissions and embedding responsible practices to inspiring wider industry change.

The article highlights rapid progress made by MSSL: halving emissions in just five years, while delivering 64% revenue growth and continuous investment in new technology, people, and planet-focused initiatives.

MSSL also features on the front cover of this year’s King’s Award magazine.

A global network

The King’s Award Magazine is distributed through a prestigious global network which maximises reach and impact both within the UK and internationally.

Distribution channels include UK Embassies and High Commissions around the world, overseas embassies located in the UK, regional development organisations, and export groups and chambers of commerce.

Copies are also sent to leaders in the UK’s top 500 companies, key stakeholders at Buckingham Palace and Downing Street, and Government ministers.

Managing Director Sean Smith said: “It is an extremely proud moment to see our company profiled in a magazine which is distributed to such illustrious destinations around the world.

“We set out on our sustainable development journey because we wanted to make a difference to our world while continuing to provide products and services of high quality for our clients.

“To see that recognised by The King and dignitaries across the UK and internationally is a huge boost for the whole MSSL team.”

Inside Kings Award Magazine 2025

40th anniversary recognition

The King’s Award flag is now proudly flying over MSSL’s base on the Braunstone Frith Industrial Estate in Leicester.

It comes after Director Emily Smith attended Windsor Castle, meeting the King during a reception for 2025 award winners.

Emily Smith said: “The whole team worked incredibly hard to achieve this award. I’m so proud to see their efforts recognised.

“By staying focused on making tangible, positive changes, we’ve shown what’s possible when you set ambitious sustainability goals and pursue them systematically.”

The recognition comes at an appropriate time - 2025 is the year of MSSL’s 40th anniversary.
