MSSL managing director to join industry panel at the UK’s largest net zero congress.
Managing Director Sean Smith will join global decarbonisation leaders at the Innovation Zero World Congress 2026 next week.
The UK’s largest net zero congress, now in its fourth year, will bring together innovators, investors, policymakers and business leaders at Olympia London to accelerate industrial decarbonisation.
Sean will speak in the session “Cutting Carbon Beyond the Grid: Decarbonising Clean Energy Manufacturing”, chaired by BEAMA sustainable business manager Tasha Lyth.
The discussion at the event on 29 April will explore how solar panels, grid equipment and batteries are designed, manufactured and recycled, and how to cut the embodied carbon in these technologies.
This is an opportunity for MSSL to represent UK SME manufacturing alongside organisations that play a leading role in the clean energy transition.
Sean said: “Being invited to join this panel is a recognition of the progress our team has made.
“It underlines that SMEs can and should help shape how low‑carbon manufacturing develops over the next decade.”
Sean will speak alongside:
The panel will discuss which innovations can cut embodied carbon the most, how to embed circular economy principles at scale and the role of policy, standards and investment to advance progress.
MSSL has cut operational emissions by more than 60% since 2018, while continuing to grow the business. It achieved Carbon Neutral status in 2022 and tracks full Scope 1-3 emissions, running several years ahead of the Make UK net zero roadmap for manufacturers.
MSSL is also a signatory to BEAMA's 2050 Connected Climate Commitment, joining 31 UK organisations to target Scope 3 emissions through science‑based targets, stronger governance and circular economy principles.
The company’s sustainability work has been recognised nationally, as one of only 27 businesses to receive The King’s Award for Enterprise in Sustainable Development.
Sean’s appearance at Innovation Zero follows his recent role on Energy UK’s “Managing SME Transitions” panel at the Electrifying Growth conference in Westminster.
At that event he underlined that practical, consistent investment in electrification and sustainability cuts costs, strengthens competitiveness and reduces emissions for SMEs.
Innovation Zero will provide another platform for MSSL to share that experience and to stand alongside leading organisations working to decarbonise clean energy manufacturing and its supply chains.
