Michael Smith Switchgear has been announced as an event partner for Feet to the Beat - the inclusive running and walking event led by the Bodie Hodges Foundation.

This partnership is the latest development in MSSL’s ongoing relationship with the Bodie Hodges Foundation.

Feet to the Beat welcomes adults aged 18 and over, offering a relaxed, social run (or walk) with no timing, coaching, or competition. A live DJ soundtracks the route through Everards Meadows. After the activity, everyone gathers at Everards Beer Hall for a friendly social.

MSSL Managing Director Sean Smith and members of the team participated in  July, witnessing for themselves the impact of this unique event. Sean will be taking part in future Feet to the Beat events alongside participants.

He  said: “It is great to be able to partner with The Bodie Hodges Foundation to support Feet To The Beat.

“It is such a good idea as an initiative to get people active and building a community.

“This is truly an inclusive event for anyone to come to, runner or not, where everyone is welcomed and encouraged.”

MSSL’s sponsorship has already made a direct impact - funding two new speakers for the event. The kit will enhance the music and energy throughout the group.

Nick Hodges said: “I'm absolutely thrilled to welcome Michael Smith Switchgear as an event partner to the recently launched Feet To The Beat.

“Feet To The Beat is a free event for the community that combines great music and slow running. It aimed at those new to running, returning to running or who lack the confidence to run on their own.

“Having Michael Smith Switchgear join us as a sponsor has enabled us to invest in more speakers to keep things lively as we move our Feet To The Beat around Everard's Meadow.”

The Bodie Hodges Foundation provides vital support for families bereaved of a child.

Through bereavement counselling, Bodie’s Treasured Memory Bags, educational workshops and Bodie’s Boathouse retreat, the charity helps families rebuild and find hope.
