MSSL marks 40 years by celebrating its longest partnership with Dave Vanham, spanning over 35 years.
Dave Vanham began partnering with Michael Smith Switchgear more than 35 years ago.
Now the Engineering Development Director at Civils & Green Urbanisation, Dave originally started working with MSSL’s MD Sean Smith’s father back in the late 1980s.
“They have always provided an excellent service and respond quickly should we have a problem that can impact on production and needs urgent action,” he said.
Polypipe Civils & Green Urbanisation is one of the UK’s leading manufacturers of specialist piping and drainage solutions.
Primarily focused on the construction and building services sectors, its systems emphasise innovation and sustainability. That makes Michael Smith Switchgear an ideal supply chain partner.
“They are very aware of the standards and service we expect,” added Dave.
Over the years, MSSL has manufactured 11 switchboards for Polypipe - as well as providing ongoing maintenance.
“They have become our supplier of choice, work safely, have an excellent team of engineers,” said Dave. “They provide a speedy and cost effective quality service from design to installation.”
MSSL works with clients across a host of sectors across the UK, ranging from hospital buildings to data centres.
So what would Dave say to other companies thinking about using the company?
“Certainly from my experience I don’t think they will regret it,” he continued.
“I believe the team at MSSL are extremely passionate about what they do and the services and equipment they offer are of the highest standard.
“They are also very focused on customer service and satisfaction, which undoubtedly results in them developing long term working relationships with their customers.”
As well as manufacturing switchboards, MSSL also provides a high quality post-installation maintenance service.
“Obviously MSSL are familiar with the equipment, they have sufficient resources and skills to carry out inspections and keep downtime to a minimum,” noted Dave.
“The inspections are key to identifying any potential problems so they can be addressed in a timely manner and eliminate unplanned downtime.”
Polypipe has a keen focus on sustainability, recognising the value of having carbon neutral Michael Smith Switchgear in its supplier list.
“We are a business that promotes the use of recycled materials and provides products to major projects where the tendering process considers responsible sourcing of growing importance,” concluded Dave. “The carbon impact of our suppliers is a key driver to our future success.”
