MSSL continues its move to Sage 200, supported by £20k Made Smarter grant.

MSSL is strengthening its focus on efficiency and long-term growth through a major digital transformation.

The team began the move to Sage 200 in 2024, starting with core areas like financials and stock - marking a shift away from Sage 50 and manual, disconnected processes.

Work is now focused on bringing Manufacturing and MRP onto Sage 200 through 2026, creating a fully integrated, scalable digital platform that better supports both customers and colleagues.

This move from standalone systems and paper heavy workflows to a connected platform where finance, sales, procurement and manufacturing work together.

Finance and Operations Director Emily Smith said: “The move  to Sage 200 is about building a smarter, more efficient foundation for the whole business.

“It allows us to cut out manual work, reduce paperwork and give our teams better information so they can focus on customers rather than chasing data.”

“The real benefit is freeing our teams to be more present, proactive and personal in how they support customers.”

This is a staged process supported by Made Smarter as part of its £3 million digital adoption push to drive growth in the East Midlands.

The implementation is being rolled out in phases, this began  with the migration of financial data into Sage 200 in 2024 to create a robust core for future modules. Subsequent stages will bring key manufacturing functions online, including barcoding, inventory and procurement.

These changes will support better stock control and more organised physical stores, with clearer labelling, and quarantine areas.

Made Smarter backing has allowed MSSL to accelerate its plans and invest confidently in the systems needed to build a long-term digital foundation for the business.

Through the East Midlands programme, MSSL also secured a £20k grant towards the initial Sage 200 implementation, reducing risk and enabling the team to move faster on its three-phase digital roadmap.

As Sage 200 becomes embedded, MSSL is seeing less manual data entry, fewer duplicated spreadsheets and more automated documents such as invoices and delivery notes.

Over time improved stock visibility and procurement planning are expected to cut delays and waste, while planned customer self-service options will reduce email traffic and paper usage.

Together, these changes support efficiency and environmental objectives in line with ISO 14001.

Crucially, the aim is not to replace human relationships but to free people’s time so they can focus on higher-value, personal support for customers.

As the business marks its 40th year anniversary, this digital transformation will make operations more efficient, resilient and responsive - strengthening MSSL for long term growth.
